Booth University College has launched a new online education platform, the Corporate Learning Academy (CLA). CLA provides on demand, self-paced courses to develop professional and personal leadership skills while ensuring people first. It offers learning excellence through best practices for transformational change while providing effective, efficient, and easily accessible learning resources for mission advancement.
“The Salvation Army, Canada and Bermuda Territory wanted flexible training and development opportunities for its Mission Partners (employees, officers, cadets, auxiliary captains, auxiliary lieutenants)”, explains Lieut. Colonel (Dr.) Susan van Duinen, President of Booth University College. While the goal of the CLA is to provide learning, knowledge, and skill development for The Salvation Army’s Mission Partners, it is also open to anyone looking to hone their leadership skills.
With offerings such as Leading a Virtual Team, Transitioning to Supervising or Managing Others, Communication with Diplomacy, Tact & Credibility, Church Conflict, Leading and Managing in a Faith-Based Setting, and many other workshops, “the CLA is all about a commitment to lifelong learning,” concludes van Duinen.
CLA courses will be self-paced and can last anywhere from three to six hours, with videos, quizzes and interactive elements and the participant receives a Certificate of Completion.
The “soft launch” took place in early July 2022, following testing and tweaking. Now the uploading of workshops will bring CLA to its official launch in the Fall of 2022. At that time, Mission Partners, and anyone interested, can participate in workshops, and explore resources.
