During the month of February 2019, Booth UC initiated a sexual violence awareness campaign as a way for students, faculty and staff to learn more about identifying and preventing sexual violence. Booth UC promotes a safe and supportive community in which healthy relationships can thrive. In this environment, sexual violence in any form is prohibited. Resources and supports have been made available, through Student Services, to help students understand what constitutes sexual violence, and what to do if they experience sexual violence. Valentina McKay (BAPsych/20) is the recipient of the Business Council of Manitoba’s Aboriginal Education Award. Valentina is from Grand Rapids Misipawistik Cree Nation and is enrolled at Booth University College in the School of Humanities and Social Science. This award means a lot to Valentina. “I cannot believe you can win an award for simply just being yourself. The validation that my hard work is recognized. The word convocation comes from the root words con and vocare meaning “to call together.” This past Friday, September 7, the Booth UC community was called together for our Opening Convocation celebrating the beginning of the academic year. Students, staff, faculty, Salvationists and guests walked into Hetherington Chapel to the sound of music filling the room. In response to the Government of Manitoba’s withdrawal of its Provincial Healthcare coverage for international students, effective 1 September 2018, Booth University College announces a new International Student Health Plan. Purchasing the International Student Health Plan coverage is mandatory for all international students registered at Booth University College. You do not need to register or apply for the International Student Health Plan as this will be done automatically and will be included in your fee payments.
