Christmas at Booth UC

It has been a long time coming! After two years with no on-campus Christmas events, it has been a joy to host a number of in-person celebrations leading up to the holiday season.

First was a Student Christmas Dinner with the theme of Santa’s Workshop. Students, staff and faculty enjoyed a delicious meal and lively conversation.
A Christmas Chapel was held on December 2. At almost full capacity, the beautifully decorated Hetherington Chapel echoed with songs and spoken word celebrating the birth of Jesus.
Student Council hosted a pancake breakfast on December 3, which was also the day they delivered over $1,000 worth of toys to The Salvation Army’s Toy Mountain Toy Drive.
And finally, on December 16 staff and faculty will join together for a Christmas potluck before the holiday break.

It has been a challenge to build community during the pandemic. Zoom meetings and video chats can only do so much. Having in-person Christmas events after such a long hiatus has reminded us all about the importance of connection. At a time of year when our focus can feel pulled in many different directions, may we all pause to look again at the manger and remember the love that truly binds us together.
