March 16, 2020

Booth UC continues to support the health and safety of all Students, Faculty and Staff as we work in partnership with public health officials with regards to COVID-19.  The Booth UC Crisis Management Team continues to meet on a regular basis to ensure that we respond appropriately to this constantly changing situation.

As of Monday, March 16, 2020 Waldron Building (447 Webb Place) is closed to the public.  Only students, employees and people providing essential services will be permitted to enter the building.

While keeping Booth UC operational continues to be our plan at this time, if you are sick, including normal colds and flu, we ask that employees please stay home.  If you come to campus unwell you will be sent home.

As of Wednesday, March 18, 2020 all courses will move to online delivery.  Students should expect contact from their instructors.

At this time we are not cancelling the April exam period (April 13 to 20, 2020).  The Registrar’s Office will be scheduling final exams to ensure recommended social distancing practices are followed.  We will endeavour to have this information available to students as soon as possible.

Any changes to our Social Work practicum and other field or Urban Service Learning placements will be determined on a case by case basis.  Students have been asked to contact their course instructor with any questions.

The John Fairbank Memorial Library is now closed to the public but remains open to students and employees – Monday to Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. The Library can deliver materials electronically as needed.  The Library asks that students with reserve books drop them in the book return bin outside the Library.

The School for Continuing Studies Hybrid Intensive courses will begin online in a few weeks as scheduled.  The School for Continuing Studies is working with instructors to provide online alternatives for face-to-face meetings.

All convocation events have been postponed (photos, gatherings, services etc).  Information on a new date will be announced at a later time. Students who have met the qualifications to graduate will receive their degrees or diplomas and transcripts at the end of the term.

All Booth UC sponsored events are cancelled or postponed.

All business travel is cancelled until further notice.  Anyone travelling outside of Manitoba is asked to report their travel to Human Resources/Dean of Students and will be asked to remain off campus for 14 days upon return to Manitoba.

The Bistro remains open for resident students and employees.

Booth UC’s residences remain open and operational. Extra cleaning of residence space is taking place to ensure appropriate hygiene, and safe spaces are available for students who live on campus to self-isolate if required. Students should contact the Student Services Office with any questions.

Resident students who choose to return home are permitted to do so but must ensure that all Academic requirements, including sitting Final Exams, are met to complete the term.

We will update the website and send bulletins to the Booth UC Community as new information and initiatives are available.
