REL 395 Selected Topics: The Salvation Army and the Bible

REL395: Selected Topics: The Salvation Army and the Bible: This course will examine the use of Scripture in the history of The Salvation Army, concentrating primarily on the life and ministry of William and Catherine Booth and the formation of that ministry through the founding of The Christian Mission in 1865 and The Salvation Army in 1878. The course will focus on several Scriptural interpretations of the Booths and others through to the time of William Booth’s death in 1912. Where appropriate, the use of the Bible in The Salvation Army after 1912 and up to 2019 will also be studied.
