We’d like to extend congratulations to Marla Warkentin who was chosen by her peers to give the valedictory address on April 30th at Booth UC’s Spring Convocation.
In addition to maintaining a record of high academic achievement throughout her studies, Marla has been involved in leadership on the Booth UC Student Council as the graduating student representative. She completed practicum experience with the Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization of Manitoba, where she worked with newcomers from primarily French-speaking countries in Africa. Currently, she is working as a research assistant, learning from local Indigenous Matriarchs, and also part-time at an independent bookstore.
Marla will be graduating with a Bachelor of Social Work and we wish her, and the graduating class, every success in the future. Watch for an article about Marla in the next Booth UC Connect, coming this summer.
