Meet Avery Daugherty, a Booth UC Scholarship Recipient

At Booth University College, we strive to make a high-quality education as affordable as possible through programs that recognize and reward students. We asked a few of our scholarship recipients, including Avery Daugherty, about what this meant for them.

Why did you choose Booth UC?

I chose Booth UC because it looked like the kind of school that would fit best with my type of learning, and had an amazing program for me to major in (English). Coming from home-schooling throughout high school, learning in a smaller, more focused environment was a key factor in my decision to come to Booth UC. Aside from the education, Booth UC’s great scholarships were another aspect that initially drew me to the school.

How does the scholarship you received impact your life and/or your studies?

As someone who doesn’t want to drown in student debt for the next twenty years, the scholarship that I received from Booth UC was major. Not only does it allow me to study in my preferred field without anxiety over financial issues, but it also provides ease over my residence. Now I can complete my studies without the fear of money troubles.

How do you plan on using your “Education for a Better World”?

As I want to go into the publishing field, I hope to have opportunities to work with underprivileged or minority authors. I want to ensure that their stories are heard just as loudly as other stories. While my exact job in my desired field is unknown at this point in time, I hope to be able to use my job to encourage and lend a hand to those around me in whatever way I can.
