At Booth University College, we strive to make a high-quality education as affordable as possible through programs that recognize and reward students. We asked a few of our scholarship recipients, including Charity Ayubu, about what this meant for them.
Why did you choose Booth UC?
I chose Booth UC because I had heard so much about how great it was from multiple people (some of whom had not even attended) and was feeling called to change universities. I kept on hearing about it and finally decided to see exactly what it was about. I was immediately offered so much support and help with navigating what exactly I wanted to pursue, and this was all before I was accepted or had applied. It immediately stood out to me because of the accessibility of assistance and help basically all the time. I felt like I had a team standing behind me even though they did not know me at all.

How does the scholarship you received impact your life and/or your studies?
The scholarship has helped me in ways that are unimaginable. It is stressful for anyone trying to figure out the financial aspect of school and how that affects all the other facets of one’s life, which was the case for me. The stress regarding school in a financial way sometimes strips you of the joy that is experienced when studying what you love, which is so unfortunate. I was having a bit of trouble trying to figure out my finances within and outside of school, so the scholarship immensely alleviated a lot of that stress and helped me be more excited for my studies!
How do you plan on using your “Education for a Better World”?
I plan on using the knowledge that I gain from my studies here at Booth UC to push me daily to be the best version of myself that I can be in whatever sphere my studies land me in. The staff and students here make this goal easy to envision because I am surrounded by people that make me want to be a better person. The hospitality and general support I have experienced and is readily available pushes me to be better and do better already. I believe that it starts with the individual, then the community, and eventually it snowballs into something substantial. And there is no better place to start living out the change you hope to be than at Booth UC.
