Introducing Rev. (Dr.) Rob Fringer Ph.D., Booth University College’s 7th President and Vice Chancellor

March 30, 2023

Last year, Booth University College embarked on an exciting new chapter as we began a search for a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as our next President. With a commitment to academic excellence, social justice, and community transformation, we sought a candidate who shared our values and was passionate about guiding our institution into the future with clarity and purpose. It gives us great pleasure to announce we have found that leader. Rev. (Dr.) Rob Fringer has accepted the appointment of 7th President and Vice Chancellor of Booth University College with effect July 1, 2023.

Rob brings a wealth of experience in higher education, leadership, and innovation to Booth UC. We are confident he will lead us to new heights of academic success as a growing Christian university of choice. As an ordained Elder in the Church of the Nazarene, Rob is eager to support our commitment to Education for a Better World and help our students translate that commitment into reality.

Rob joins Booth UC, having been Principal and Senior Lecturer in Biblical Studies at the Nazarene Theological College in Australia and New Zealand. He has also held the roles of Research Active Faculty in Biblical Studies and Biblical Language at the Sydney College of Divinity in Sydney Australia and Honorary Research Fellow at the School of Historical and Philosophical Inquiry at the University of Queensland in Brisbane Australia.

“It is a huge honour to have been chosen as the next President and Vice Chancellor of Booth University College, and I am deeply grateful to the Booth UC selection committee, Board of Trustees, and The Salvation Army in Canada for their confidence and trust in me. My own personal and professional journey aligns with Booth UC’s mission, which ‘brings together Christian faith, rigorous scholarship and a passion for service,’ and I am excited to move forward in this journey together. I look forward to meeting the rest of the faculty, staff and students, and my whole family is excited to become part of the Booth UC community.”

Rob has been involved in assigned ministry positions since 1995, working as a youth pastor at churches in California, Missouri, and Massachusetts; as a volunteer missionary in Eswatini (formerly Swaziland), as an associate pastor of discipleship and community outreach in New Hampshire, and then more recently as an assigned educator in Australia. Rob has also held several denominational roles for the Church of the Nazarene in the Asia Pacific Region including Field Discipleship Coordinator, Regional Discipleship Council Member, and Field Education Coordinator.

Outside of work, Rob enjoys reading, writing, playing guitar, writing music and playing almost any game. He is married to Vanessa and together they have two children, Sierra and Brenden.

Rev. (Dr.) Fringer will join Booth UC as its 7th President, on July 1, 2023.
