On January 26, 2020, Dr. Michael Boyce will present “A Final Frontier? The Uneasy Tension between Science Fiction and Faith” This lecture will examine the often uneasy tensions in Christian Science Fiction, comparing the pioneering (though almost forgotten) writer, Victor Rousseau Emanuel (1879-1960) with C.S. Lewis (1898-1963).

Dr. Michael W. Boyce is Associate Professor of English and Film Studies at Booth University College. His research interests are film and television, fantasy literature, and popular culture. He has written and presented papers on Edgar Allan Poe; Alec Guinness; Alfred Hitchcock; James Bond; and British war-themed television. Michael is also featured in documentary on Rousseau, Lewis and Madeline L’Engle, The Science Fiction Makers, that is currently airing on Superchannel. The film takes a look at how the works of these literary fantasists intersect with the Christian canon. You can find a review of the film in the Winnipeg Free Press.
Please join us on January 26, for a lecture on this fascinating and relevant topic. See you then!
