Major Bruce Power, PhD, taught at The Salvation Army College for Officer Training in Toronto for 16 years, and has been teaching for Booth University College since 1984. Bruce completed his PhD at the University of Toronto, where he specialized in biblical traditions and their cultural world. He is also an adjunct faculty member at Tyndale University College in Toronto.

Bruce served as a corps officer (pastor) in various parts of the country, and was an editor in The Salvation Army national publications office for seven years. He has contributed articles, papers, and reviews to both The Salvation Army and academic publications. His book Conversations with God: Psalms as a resource for prayer and mediation was published by the Canada and Bermuda Territory.

Bruce enjoys living in Toronto, listens to a lot of jazz and baroque music, and dabbles in guitar playing. He enjoys spending time with his wife Judy, and with their four adult children. Relaxing with friends, exploring foods in the city, and reading and learning about the ancient world are all regular activities for Bruce. Bruce also mostly enjoys technology.
