The Salvation Army Announces Winnipeg Property Changes

April 3, 2023

The Salvation Army
Canada and Bermuda Territory

Office of the Secretary for Communications

With the relocation of the College for Officer Training to Toronto and divisional mergers on the horizon, The Salvation Army Canada and Bermuda Territory has undertaken a comprehensive assessment of its properties in Winnipeg and is making the following changes.

As of September 2024, Booth University College will relocate to the 290 Vaughan Street property, which formerly housed the College for Officer Training (CFOT). The current Booth University College property located on 447 Webb Place will be placed on the market for sale.

There will be no impact on the current Booth UC staffing or programming. We are confident that the Vaughan Street location will provide ample classroom space, technology and amenities to maintain the high standards of education for which Booth UC is renowned.

Booth UC is currently exploring alternatives for resident students as there are no residential facilities at the Vaughan Street location. The Army is also working closely with valued donors and other stakeholders to make sure that their generous investments in Booth UC are honoured.

The Prairie Divisional Headquarters will move out of 290 Vaughan Street to a new location, to be determined. The Ethics Centre, which is currently in a leased facility, will also relocate to the same space as the new Prairie Divisional Headquarters in due course.

We deeply value the ongoing role of Booth University College, the College for Officer Training, the Ethics Centre and Prairie divisional team in administrative and educational support of the territory. These changes in property allocations will help us ensure the continuance of these important ministries well into the future.
