We are thrilled to announce our newest faculty member, Wendi Thiessen. Wendi commenced her role as Director of the School of Business/Business Administration Faculty on July 1. We asked Wendi to share a bit about herself, and what she is looking forward to in her new role at Booth UC:

I am looking forward to working with a group of people that share many common values. Secondly, I’m excited about meeting students that are just starting out, launching into adulthood and/or other phases of life. And finally, I have spent my adult life living and working in the centre of the city, and am very interested in how Booth UC takes that even a step further. I resonated with Booth UC’s commitment – Education For a Better World.
I think that Christian educators have an “equipping” mandate. My hope is that I can find skills and practices that excellent companies are implementing, whether it’s in marketing, human resource management, conflict resolution or budgeting, and figure out how to best pass them along to Booth UC students. I believe that all of us, whether we are focused on management in a not-for-profit, or a church, or at a bank, should be equipped so that we can serve in a variety of areas and to the best of our ability.
Outside of work? My life is full – and usually fun! My hubby and I have 3 boys and an old dog. My husband is a chiropractor with a practice close to downtown. The boys are at various stages of adulting – 2 at U of Manitoba, and the youngest starting grade 12 at MBCI. We have attended The Meeting Place (TMP) for 25 years. Finally, I read a lot, love to travel and currently sit on a couple of faith and non-faith based not-for-profit boards.
