Matthew Gooch

BA, BSW, MSW, RSW

Sessional Instructor

Matthew graduated from Booth University College with a Bachelor of Social Work (Advanced Standing) in 2014 and completed his Master of Social Work (Advanced Standing) from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2022. While at Wilfrid, Matthew was (and continues to be) part of projects that have explored and reviewed archival documents such as provincial and federal legislation, policies, and agency protocols regarding child welfare and has sought to promote and ask critical questions as to why systems have not changed. Through this work, Matthew presented at the 2022 Kempe Conference alongside WLU colleagues, and he continues to work on projects that encourage others to work toward systematic changes in the spaces they occupy. Additionally, Matthew is part of a team that is exploring how research and research methods could be better shaped, and consequently delivered, so that graduate level students approach this area with decreased anxiety and, more importantly, receive the greatest impact and learning experience throughout their studies.

Matthew currently is a part of the mental health and therapy team at TinyEYE Therapy Services where he is able to provide remote therapy services using state-of-the-art technology to students around the world.

At home, Matthew enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters where coffee is consumed consistently, walks outside happen as often as they can, Marvel is a shared love between him and his wife, and their children enjoy their “junior” (ie: much more age-appropriate) shows.
