With a background in international development and English literature at the University of Winnipeg, Carol completed internships in non-profits in Winnipeg, South Africa, and Cuba. She completed her Bachelor of Social Work at Booth University College and then her Master of Social Work at Wilfrid Laurier University. After working with youth in a variety of roles, she has been at the Immigrant & Refugee Community Organization of Manitoba since 2014. There she supported newly arrived refugee families as a social worker until 2020, when she moved into a management role with the community resource program. Outside of work, Carol enjoys cross-country skiing and camping, and she is learning Portuguese.
