
Jennifer Meixner

Assistant Professor of Social Work
Jennifer Meixner is a registered social worker with a master’s degree in Indigenous Governance, a Bachelor of Social Work, and a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Conflict Resolution Studies. Jennifer is a PhD student in the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Manitoba, is the President on the Board of Directors for the Manitoba College of Social Work, and also the Board of Directors for the Manitoba FASD Coalition. She volunteers as a member of the 'Do it Safer, do it better' Manitoba Harm Reduction Network in Selkirk Manitoba, is part of the Winnipeg sexual exploitation harm reduction regional team, and volunteers at her local community center supporting her two sons in their sports and activities. Jennifer worked for Manitoba Justice for 10+ years doing comprehensive complex case management of youth, Court Ordered assessment and recommendations and was an expert witness in Provincial and Court of Queen’s Bench related to Gladue and pre-sentencing assessment and recommendations. Jennifer went on to work at the Office of the Manitoba Advocate for Children and Youth (MACY) as an Advocacy Officer, advancing the rights and interests of children across the province. Jennifer has since worked for a First Nations government in the area of Indigenous rights and justice, acted as the Director of Programs for an Indigenous non-profit organization, and in 2020 started a private practice supporting community, organizations, families and individuals; Jennifer Meixner Consulting & Restorative Practice.
