Community Life

September is upon us, and with it, the start of a new academic year. To kick things off, Booth UC held our annual Welcome Week celebrations on September 5-8th. All students were invited to campus to attend a variety of in-person events, including a day for new students, a return of the Booth UC Block Party, an opening week chapel, and a pancake breakfast.

The week was an absolute blast! Dozens of students, from first to fourth year, were in attendance at all the events, as well as many staff, faculty, and friends.

The week started off with a day dedicated to new students. On September 5th, participants gathered in the Commons for a meet-and-greet as well as an information session from Student Services. From there, the group headed over to the Booth Bistro for a delicious lunch. Then it was off to Classroom D for a Q&A panel with Student Council members. The panel shared their own academic experiences, tips, and advice with the incoming class.

One of the most exciting features of the week was the return of the Booth UC Block Party! After a three-year hiatus, students, staff, faculty and friends gathered on the lawn of the Adult Education Centre on September 6th for hotdogs, games and conversation. Laughter and music filled the air as the crowd enjoyed food, fun and beautiful fall weather.

September 7th saw the return of worship gatherings with our opening week chapel. Hetherington Chapel echoed with music as the worship band led us in praise and song. Then, our new President, Rev. (Dr.) Rob Fringer offered a reflection on the journey ahead as we embark on a new school year.

The week was capped off with a very popular pancake breakfast on September 8th. Hosted by Student Council, the breakfast was the perfect way to finish the week and start the new year!

Welcome Week truly did welcome all the incoming students to campus and provide them with the knowledge and connections needed to launch a brand-new, successful academic year. Thank you so much to everyone who participated.
