On March 1, 2023, Booth University College welcomed Dr. Linda Schwartz as our new Vice President Academic and Dean.

Linda Schwartz (Ph.D.- Interdisciplinary; M.Mus.; B.Mus.) is a music theorist/composer and academic administrator with experience as a program chair, dean and vice-president at a variety of public and Christian universities in Manitoba, British Columbia and Alberta, ranging from large research and polytechnic postsecondary institutions to smaller liberal arts schools. Her scholarly and creative studies were completed at the University of Manitoba (Bachelor and Doctorate degrees), with additional graduate study at Western University (UWO – Masters degree), The University of Winnipeg Theological Consortium and the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Schwartz has a reputation as an innovative and collaborative leader and change agent and has extensive experience with program development and review across a wide range of disciplines, including humanities, creative and performing arts, social sciences and sciences. She has published in the areas of academic leadership, faculty development, core curricula in Christian Higher Education, the scholarship of teaching and learning and music theory pedagogy. She continues to teach in the areas of critical and cultural studies, aesthetics and music theory and is also active professionally as a publisher of music by established and emerging Canadian composers.

Linda is an Anglican with strong Wesleyan roots. She is a long-time parishioner at St. Margaret’s in Winnipeg and has served as a lay leader/musician in Anglican and Lutheran parishes in Winnipeg, Vancouver and Langley, BC. Linda and her husband, Tim Trivett, are happy to return to Winnipeg and look forward to resettling in their home in Wolseley and reconnecting with many friends, professional associates and their church family.

Linda is excited to be at Booth and hopes to collaborate with faculty colleagues and leaders here to develop new and innovative programming that honours institutional identity and reflects a flourishing scholarly community.
