Alternative Rental Options
Homestay
Homestay programs are designed to act as a home-away-from-home for out-of-province students, offering a safe, economical and supportive living environment. Their programs match students with Winnipeg families who provide them with both a room and meals.
Homestay programs often include a short (two- to four-month) commitment period, making them a great option while students look for more permanent accommodations. Some students choose to stay long-term, fitting in as one of the family members.
Here are some homestay options.
Canada Homestay Network
Since 1995, the Canada Homestay Network, a family-run, non-profit society, has helped tens of thousands of students find a home-away-from-home in Canada. Students receive a room and three meals per day, plus all of the added benefits of living with a Winnipeg family. Homes are located close to public transportation, with no longer than a 45-minute (often shorter) bus ride to our campus.
Polar Trails Homestay Program
Polar Trails is Winnipeg’s longest-serving locally based homestay agency, supporting international students for over 20 years. They offer short- and long-term homestay options, and all host families are carefully screened and matched with students to provide the best supportive learning environment possible.
